A Warehouse Conversion in London's Docklands - Cost £180,000, Completion Time 10 Weeks

Warehouse ConversionA stunning waterside penthouse conversion close to the City of London, overlooking the Thames. The property was the London base for a city banker.

  • The original features were preserved
  • Triple aspect views overlooking the river
  • The conversion consisted of 4 bedrooms

Structural alterations were made involving removing rotten timbers and supporting walls which were replaced with steels. The finished result was a beautifully presented contemporary four bedroom conversion which had triple aspect views overlooking the River Thames with exposed brickwork, original warehouse features and two roof terraces.

Assessing the Feasibility of Getting Planning Permission for your Conversion

How many flat conversions are on your street?

If there are already exisitng flat conversions on your road then this is a favourrable indication of a favoourable planning application outcome. If there are no flat conversions then your road may be subject to planning restrictions

Is you house big enough for conversion?

Many councils require house to have at least 120 square metres total area. This is the total area of the house as it was originally built - without extensions and conservatories.

All councils have a website planning permission guide with a section on House to Flat Conversions. We will need to see this in order to complete a feasibility study on the project. The planning guide may require the provision of parking places and may also outline the permitted ratio of houses to flats in your area.
